The Fall Classic 2011 - Pre-Tournament Preparations
T.D. announces dates and location of the 2011 Fall Classic
The Fall Classic returns to Crown Colony for third straight year
Perry will attempt to three-peat as the Fall Classic champion as the tournament is scheduled to return to Crown Colony Country Club in Lufkin, TX on October 13-16.Please mark your calendars and let T.D. know your plans as soon as possible.
Pre-Classic Meeting held
The annual Pre-Classic meeting was held on Tuesday Oct. 4th at TD's house. A fairly small crowd was on hand due to the fact that many of the regulars were out of town. Still a good time was had by those that attended. TD cooked the traditional sausage po-boys and beans, along with various appetizers. The Captains announced their draft picks, handicaps were finalized, and the Thursday matches were selected. See details below.
A few interesting notes about the 2011 Captains' Cup teams:
- Eight of the last eleven Fall Classic Championships were won by members of this year's Red Team
- The winning captains of the last four Captains' Cups are members of this year's Red Team
- Seven of the eight lowest gross scores from the 2010 Fall Classic were turned in by players on this year's Blue Team
- Six of the seven highest gross scores from the 2010 Fall Classic were turned in by players on this year's Red Team
- Seven members of the Blue Team finished in the top ten of the 2010 Fall Classic Championship
- Seven members of the Red Team have a handicap of 16 or higher
- Seven members of the Blue Team have a handicap of 15 or lower
- Little Ray has been on four winning Captains' Cup teams and has never been on a losing team
- One member of the Blue Team (who shall remain nameless to protect my honor) has been on a record four losing teams; however, I'm on a roll as I was on the winning team last year

2011 Captains Named - Young Guns take the helm
There's a youth movement at this year's Captains' Cup as Michael and Peyton have been named as captains. The big question is if the new captains will select their fathers with the first selection? I guess it's that or kiss the family fortune good-bye. If they do select their fathers, then the question will be whether or not the old guys will let the young guys run the show. Should be interesting to watch. Team selections should be announced soon.
The only real important matter is who wins the toss and gets to choose to be the Red Team Captain. The Red Team has won the last four Captains' Cup events, and for the most part, it hasn't even been close.
The Year is 2011

The Fall Classic Modified Calcutta
The 2011 Fall Classic will once again feature the Modified Calcutta.
The total pot for the Calcutta is $200.
Each participant will have ownership in two golfers:
- Yourself
- Free pick (you can pick anyone in the field that you think might win the Championship, picks will be made prior to the first tee time on Thursday)
# of people picking winner | Champ's Share | Picker's Share |
---|---|---|
0 | $200.00 | - |
1 | $100.00 | $100.00 |
2 | $100.00 | $50.00 each |
3 | $100.00 | $33.33 each |
4 | $100.00 | $25.00 each |
Example #1:
Pat wins the Championship. No one picked him with their pick. The pot would be split based on zero people picking the winner:
- Pat (Champ's share) : $200.00
Example #2:
Pat wins the Championship. Mike and Perry picked Pat to win with their pick. Therefore the pot would be split based on two people picking the winner:
- Pat (Champ's share) : $100.00
- Mike (Picker's share) : $50.00
- Perry (Picker's share) : $50.00
Example #3:
Pat wins the Championship. Mike, Perry, and Pat picked Pat (you can pick yourself). Therefore the pot would be split based on three people picking the winner:
- Pat (Champ's share + Picker's share) : $100.00 + $33.33 = $133.33
- Mike (Picker's share) : $33.33
- Perry (Picker's share) : $33.33
